Western Canada's pacing princess Mystic Maiden added another title to her impressive resume on Sunday by virtue of her victory in the $35,000 Miss Valentine
at Fraser Downs.
Driver Jim Marino eased the public choice away and settled into third before making a rush to the lead in front of the grandstand and fronting the field through a :56.4 half.
Without any serious threats looming, Marino stole a :29.2 third split and sealed the deal with a :29.3 closer to cross the wire two and a half lengths the best in 1:55.4. Pocket sitter Red Star Dana finished second with Margarets Spirit more than six lengths back in third.
Justin Currie trains Mystic Maiden (Camystic - Artfromtheheart) for Barry MacFarlane of Powell River and breeders Crimson Racing Stable of Langley, B.C. The four-year-old mare boasts a lifetime record of 22 wins in 24 starts and $190,000 in earnings.
