Wildcat Cam Repeats At Rideau

Sent postward at odds of 7-1 from his assigned outside post position, Wildcat Cam closed from the backfield once again to pull off an upset for the second straight week in the $6,950 Winners Over Handicap Pace featured on Sunday night's snowy card at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

After trailing the field of seven through the first-half, Wildcat Cam and driver Tyler Moore followed the outer flow and then went three-wide turning for home, emerging in the blanket finish to earn their second win in a row. The six-year-old Camluck-Armbro Champagne gelding won in 1:57 flat over the snowy track, edging out a first-up Solid Performance (Brett MacDonald) by a head and early leader Jenkins Creek (Guy Gagnon) by a neck. Favourite Bazinga Brad (Louis-Philippe Roy) got up for fourth, just ahead of Highland Tartan (Rheo Filion), who retook the lead past the :28.1 quarter and remained on top through middle splits of :58.1 and 1:27.4 before being swarmed in the stretch.

Wildcat Cam paid $17.60 to win. He has now won four of his six starts in the top class at Rideau this year while earning $14,810 for trainer Jamie Copley and co-owner Ryan Copley of Kenmore, Ont.

Just as he did last Sunday, Wildcat Cam completed a training triple on the program with the 10th race win for Copley. Taurus Du Parc ($5.30) also doubled up for the Copley stable, and Future Shark ($7.90) was victorious in his Sunday outing. Moore drove all three winners.
