Ashcos Scotty ($16.60) was able to race first-over, collar pacesetter Pure Jesse and post a three-quarter length triumph in winning the fifth race $8,500 feature trot Wednesday, February 11 at Pompano Park.

Pure Jesse and driver Kevin Wallis were able to take the early lead away from Tropical Bay (driven by Dan Clements) after the opening quarter mile in :28.2. From there the duo led to the half-mile marker in :58, as driver David Ingraham came on the outside to challenge with Ashcos Scotty.

Pressing the pacesetter to the three-quarters in 1:28.1, Ashcos Scotty continued to grind it out until Pure Jesse gave up the lead as they started down the stretch. Ashcos Scotty then was able to hold off Rovasreadytorumble (Wally Hennessey) and Express Messenger (Anthony Napolitano) to win in 1:57.4.

It was the second win this year for Ashcos Scotty, a 12-year-old gelded son of Earl. Owned by Anthony Chiniiara of Pompano Beach, Ashcos Scotty is trained by Leon Cable.
