Trainer Bryson Dunning stole the show on Monday, Feb. 10 at Rosecroft Raceway, harnessing four winners on the 14-race program.
Dunning began his grand slam in the fourth race with All Maxxed Out ($8), whom he owns in partnership with Christine Stafford, in 1:55.4. Lucas Myers drove the four-year-old Emeritus Maximus gelding to victory in the $8,571 event for non-winners of two races.
The 21-year-old New Jersey native then teamed up with driver William Carter, who led all drivers with four wins, for a trio of winners for owner P T Stable: Winbak Willy T ($3.40), who rallied to a 1:53.1 score in a $7,857 second-level conditioned pace; Rebellious ($6), who held off Shim to win a $12,143 fourth-level conditioned pace; and Southwind Dredge ($4), who evaded Phils Sun by 2-3/4 lengths to win the $7,857 claiming finale.
Johnny Crites Jr. scored a training triple, sending Pizzagaina ($3.80, 1:55), Luck On The Beach ($2.80, 1:54.2) and Delaware Chrome ($3, 1:56.3) to victory lane.
In the $14,286 Winners Over pacing feature, Rock Smart ($43) circled the field en route to a 20-1 upset, swinging four-wide off the final turn to eclipss Horse and even-money favourite Walden Woods by a widening 1-3/4 lengths in 1:53.1. Johnathan Ahle, who drove three winners, reined the eight-year-old Pet Rock gelding to his 30th career win. Timmy Offutt trains the pacer for owner Ken Weckstein.
Live harness racing returns to Rosecroft on Wednesday, Feb. 12 with a $1,262.57 Jackpot Hi-5 carryover. First post for the 12-race card is 7:15 p.m.
