Callahan And Kirby Dominate At Dover

It was a serious game of ‘anything you can do, I can do better’ between drivers Corey Callahan and Vic Kirby during Tuesday’s 15–race program at Dover Downs.

Callahan, who currently leads all North American reinsmen by wins, kicked off the card sweeping the Daily Double with Joeyscash (1:58.1) and Bestofthebunch (1:54). He tacked on wins in with Rockin Gazelle (1:57) in Race 11, SJs Lindy (1:57.4) in Race 12 and Sound The Belle (1:58.4) in Race 15.

Kirby, who celebrated his biggest day of the meet, took down bragging rights in Race 3 with Cashco (1:57.1) before adding wins with Doubletrouble (1:54) in Race 6, Ise The By Boy (1:54.1) in Race 8, Gizmo Hanover (1:54.2) in Race 13 and We Salute You (1:55.1) in Race 14.

It was a career year in 2013 for Callahan thanks to his 619 wins and purse earnings that nearly reached $10 million. The career winner of 3,496 races has racked up more than $45 million in purse earnings.

Kirby also celebrated a career year in 2013 thanks to 294 victories and purse earnings that topped more than $3 million. He’s manufactured 2,876 trips to the winner’s circle over the course of his career while racking up more than $26 million in career earnings.
