Westwardho Hanover is poised for a series sweep of the Aquarius at Meadowlands Racetrack after proving he's the top contender of the four-year-old starters

two weeks in a row.

The Ron Burke trainee overcome a trailing tier start in leg one of the Aquarius last weekend and an outside post position in round two on Saturday night.

When the gates folded in the lone $35,000 second leg division, regular driver Yannick Gingras sent Westwardho Hanover after the lead from Post 9. The 2-5 favourite was stretched out past the :27.1 opening quarter by insider Great Vintage (Dave Miller) before eventually clearing at the :55.3 half-mile mark.

His work was not done though as the four-year-old Dragon Again son was faced with first over pressure in the form of leg one runner-up Camaes Fellow (Brian Sears) to three-quarters in 1:24.1 while second over Sir Ziggys Z Tam (Dan Dube) fanned three-wide around the final turn.

Westwardho Hanover drew clear in the stretch, but the closers persisted, narrowing the winner's margin to just a head at the wire. Westwardho Hanover hung on to score the victory in 1:51.1. Camaes Fellow finished second again with Sir Ziggys Z Tam rounding out the top three finishers.

Westwardho Hanover paid $2.80 to win for the third straight time. Prior to his Aquarius win last week, the bay pacer won the Willowdale Series final at Woodbine Racetrack off two third place finishes in the preliminary rounds. He now has $93,400 banked this year for the Westward Ho Stable of Frederickstown, Pennsylvania.
