KY Committee Passes Lottery-Game Bill

On Tuesday, February 10, Kentucky’s Senate Licensing, Occupations and Administrative Regulations committee passed SB74 – a bill that calls for the alteration of existing state lottery laws to allow a ‘shared lottery game’ – with unanimous approval.

According to a report by The Courier-Journal, the bill could be voted on by the full Senate as soon as this Thursday (February 12).

The article has cited Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer as saying that the idea of a shared lottery game is ‘innovative.’

"For decades now, horse racing, which is regulated by the government, has had to compete with the state government and (has) seen its market share decline because of lotteries and the proliferation of lotteries," The Courier-Journal has quoted Thayer as saying.
