Action Broadway In The Spotlight

A leisurely fifth at the half, Action Broadway unleashed a powerful uncovered bid that propelled her to the lead and on to victory in the $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot on Tuesday at The Meadows

.

Sent off the 4-5 favourite, Action Broadway idled 5-1/2 lengths back before Dave Palone moved her off the cones. She gobbled up the leader, Pilgrims Stunner, and cruised home to down that rival by three lengths in 1:57.1. A trapped-in Digital Pix was a rallying third.

While The Meadows was spared the brunt of the storm that targeted much of the Midwest and East, the track absorbed enough “wintry mix” to be rated “sloppy” from the outset. As track conditions deteriorated and threatened the safety of drivers and horses, The Meadows canceled races eight through 15.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Wednesday with first post at 6:55 p.m.
