A terrifying, five-horse crash occurred this past Saturday night at Michigan's Sports Creek Raceway, and those involved are grateful that the damage is not any worse than what it was
.
Three-year-old filly T K Farnsworth (driven by Larry Lake) was on the lead along the pylons when she unexpectedly fell and went down on the track. The resulting chain reaction led to four other horses and their respective drivers being involved in the accident.
"I knew when I saw that front horse drop that it was going to be really bad," trainer-driver Steve Main said in a report by an ABC affiliate, "horses and bodies flying in every direction."
Main was aboard Fourth Street in the dash. The duo was interfered with in as a result of the accident, but luckily did not go down.
The report by the ABC affiliate states that two drivers -- Keith Crawford and Larry Lake -- were taken to hospital and four were knocked unconscious. The report states that the horses involved did not suffer major injuries.
An article today by harnessracing.com states that Crawford, who was driving Snows First Angel, sustained bruising on the brain, but that he told the Michigan Harness Horsemen's Association's office that he was feeling fine and is awaiting results from a CAT scan. Crawford was hoping to be released as soon as this afternoon.
The harnessracing.com report also states that Lake suffered a dislocated shoulder which will require surgery.
