Canadian-owned Catalina Morgan scored her seventh win of the season in the $16,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Pompano Park on Tuesday.
Driver Denis St Pierre rolled Catalina Morgan through fractions of :28, :57.3 and 1:25.2 before coming under pressure from Lucy Lucy around the final turn.
Catalina Morgan dug deep as they turned for home, and she went on to a one and a half-length score in a time of 1:54. Hypnotize rallied for the runner-up award and Lucy Lucy hung on for third prize.
The victory was the second consecutive score in the class for the six-year-old daughter of J B Stena. Marc Major conditions the mare for owner Richard Berthiaume of Pointe-Aux-Trembles, QC.
