Woodbine Mohawk Park hosted five qualifiers on Friday (Dec. 8) morning and two of the winners sport six-figure sums in their career earnings.
Like Chaos found his way to the winner's circle for the first time this year as a sophomore and then, did that again eight more times. He yielded $105,336 in earnings over 22 starts with a mark of 1:53.4 in a leg of the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots.
On Friday, the Bruce Richardson trainee, with his trainer in tow, went gate-to-wire in his first on-track appearance since the Grassroots Final in late September. After posting panels in :29, :58.4 and 1:29.1, Like Chaos romped home to win by 7-3/4 lengths in 1:57.2.
Richardson owns the three-year-old Lookslikeachpndale gelding with Joseph Coffey.
Highlandbeachsbest is a career earner of $234,406 and nine wins. The five-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere made his first track return since late October.
Driven by Daryl Thiessen, Highlandbeachsbest won every panel in :29.1, :59.1 and 1:28 before sprinting to a 6-3/4-length achievement in 1:55.3 for trainer Amanda Fine.
Highland Thoroughbred Frm owns and bred the winner.
