Pocket-sitter Beachin Lindy emerged through the open stretch to stick a neck in front at the finish and win the $11,500 Preferred 2 Pace at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, Dec. 8.

The four-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding drafted odds-on favourite Deetzy as he set the pace through fractions of :28.3, :59 and 1:27.4. Keep Coming came first over moving towards three-quarters and pressed the leader around the final turn before taking a narrow lead through the stretch. However Beachin Lindy dove inside the tiring leader and launched through the passing lane to snag victory from Keep Coming in a 1:56.1 mile. Deetzy held third.

Owned by Larocque Racing Stable Inc., Beachin Lindy won his fifth race in 35 starts this season and his 14th from 64 overall, earning $124,389. Travis Henry steered the $14.50 winner for trainer Stephen Charlton.

Willyorwonthe popped off the pegs and nailed Absolut Seelster at the finish to repeat in the $11,500 Preferred 2 Trot.

Driver Alfie Carroll landed Willyorwonthe in third around the first turn while Absolut Seelster took command and led the field to the first quarter in :28. Uncontested through a :59.4 half, Absolut Seelster faced pressure up the backside as Willyorwonthe blitzed the pacesetter at three-quarters in 1:29.4 but lost ground around the last turn. Yet upon straightening Willyorwonthe surged for the front again and slid a nose ahead of Absolut Seelster at the finish to stop the clock in 2:00.2. Sizzlen Hot Herbie, from second over, finished third.

A six-year-old gelding by Angus Hall, Willyorwonthe won his 14th race from 39 starts this season and his 36th from 150 overall, earning $343,835 for owner-trainer William Megens. He paid $4.00 to win.

Rock This Way rallied from third over to take the $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace by a half length in 1:58.

Boomboom Ballykeel led the field to the first quarter in :27.3 but yielded control to Jay Eye Em moving towards a :58.1 half. Thorn In Your Side meanwhile angled first over from third with Lets Wait And See and Rock This Way tracking his cover as he advanced towards the leader nearing three-quarters in 1:27.2. Jay Eye Em lost the lead to Thorn In Your Side in the stretch but the 2-1 favourite got outkicked by Rock This Way through the lane and settled for second. The Regulator rushed from last for third.

Owned by Santo and Nunzio Vena, Rock This Way won his second race from 29 starts this season and his 10th from 96 overall, earning $239,065. Benoit Baillargeon trains the five-year-old Rocknroll Hanover gelding who paid $8.30 to win. Scott Young sat in the sulky.

Refi ripped off cover as the 8-5 favourite to finish in front of the other 8-5 favourite in the $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot.

Its Huw You Know, the other 8-5 favourite, led unchallenged through splits of :29, 1:00.2 and 1:30 with Pound Sterling on his back. Refi moved first over from fourth heading to the half but had to angle three wide as Yoooukilis pulled first over but promptly retreated passing three-quarters. Refi continued to close ground on Its Huw You Know heading for the stretch and edged to a half-length victory in 2:00.3 while Pound Sterling gave pursuit from third.

Co-owned by trainer Benoit Baillargeon with Santo Vena, Nunzio Vena and Claude Hamel, Refi won his fifth race from 12 starts this season and his sixth from 18 overall, earning $55,925. Scott Young drove the sophomore Chapter Seven colt who paid $5.30 to win.
