On a night when the 'sloppy' track was off a second or more, Sir Caviar demolished a distinguished field in an impressive time of 1:53.4, capturing his fifth straight in Wednesday’s $22,500 Preferred Handicap Trot at the Meadows.
Brian Zendt sent Sir Caviar to his customary position on the lead, where he tolerated no challenge from the pocket-sitting Rembrandt Spur and downed that rival by two and a quarter lengths. Diamond Hunter was well back in third.
Leslie Zendt trains Sir Caviar, a five-year-old SJs Caviar--Sierra Flower K gelding who now has won 46.7 per cent of his 60 career starts, and owns with Bill Zendt.
Aaron Merriman drove three winners on the 15-race card.
