Popular four-year-old trotting mare Charmed Life lived up to the wagering public's even-money expectations with a 1:53.3 victory in the $34,000 Preferred Trot on Saturday night at Woodbine Racetrack.

Taking a step up in competition, three-year-old trotting filly Riveting Rosie (Paul MacDonell) established the lead from post two and led her older rivals through opening panels of :27.2 and :56.4. However, millionaire Daylon Magician (Jack Moiseyev) made a backstretch brush to take over command just past the midway mark and he trotted by three-quarters in 1:24.4.

Meanwhile, Nowucit Nowudont (Per Henriksen) advanced first up from fourth with Charmed Life (Jody Jamieson) following his cover from fifth.

Daylon Magician opened up two lengths on top heading for home, but Charmed Life swept by down the stretch with a :28-second final frame to prevail by two and a quarter lengths. Charlie Is A Joker (Mike Saftic) came on for second over Daylon Magician.

Charmed Life paid $4 to win. The Majestic Son-Christina M mare is trained by David Menary for Menary Racing Inc., Brad Gray and Michael Guerriero. A seven-time winner in 23 starts this season, Charmed Life has earned $251,377 to push her career bankroll over $700,000.
