Making just his fifth start for new trainer Danka Veilleux, three-year-old trotting colt Sucre A Le Creme provided the Mirabel, Quebec conditioner with her first victory.
Driven by Simon Allard in the 11th race, Sucre A La Creme swept from fourth to first past the half-mile mark and held off Mister Eminic to prevail by a nose in 2:01 over the 'good' surface rated one second slow. The favourite paid $4.60 to win.
The son of Justice Hall was purchased by Veilleux in late September and she took over the training duties at the end of October. Since then, Sucre A Le Creme has hit the board in four of five starts.
