With Golden Receiver on the point and Martys Charm challenging first over, Handsome Prince and Brett Miller waited patiently in third through three-quarters that went in 1:25.2 on a track rated “good.” Ignoring the bone-chilling temperature and wind-whipped snow, Handsome Prince brushed inside to score in 1:53.3. Golden Receiver was second, a neck back, while Martys Charm saved show.
Ron Burke trains Handsome Prince, a five-year-old Grinfromeartoear-Nova Princess gelding, who now boasts career earnings of $244,044, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and M1 Stable. The win was one of four on the 16-race card for Miller.
