Dontmakemebeg Prevails In BC Stallion Stake

Stablemates Dontmakemebeg and Nobody Can completed the Ed Hensley exactor in the $30,000 BC Stallion Stake final for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings

Saturday night at Fraser Downs.

Leaving from the rail, Hensley sent Nobody Can to the lead parking True Humility (Rod Therres) to the opening quarter in :28-seconds with the second half of the favoured entry, Dontmakemebeg and Jim Marino, following in the pocket.

True Humility finally cleared the lead by Nobody Can was back out for the retake before reaching the :58.3 half. He raced past three-quarters in 1:27.4 before his stablemate angled out for the challenge.

The pair matched strides down the lane but it was Dontmakemebeg who reached up at the wire for the career-best 1:57.4 victory. Nobody Can finished half a length behind in second with longshot Dont Say Anything (Kevin Anderson) rounding out the top three to give stallion Kents On Nuke a sweep of the top three spots.

Dontmakemebeg, owned and bred by the J J J Stables of Aldergrove, B.C. and Alan Anderson of Willows, California, has prevailed in half of his eight outings this year. With the win, the son of Kents On Nuke-Zenobia nearly doubled his bankroll to $33,745.

Earlier on the card, Red Star Hottie doubled up in Open action for trainer Robert Merschback and owner Robert Murphy of Surrey, B.C. when she went wire-to-wire in the $12,000 pace for fillies and mares.

James Burke sent the As Promised-Whitehorse Fever four-year-old to the top of the five-horse field from Post 2 and maintained a two length lead as she carved out panels of :28.1, :58 and 1:26.1 en route to victory in 1:55.

Adorable Killean (David Hudon) rallied off cover to finish two and three-quarters of a length back in second. The first over Midnight Diva (Serge Masse) was third.

With six wins in 14 starts to her credit this season, Red Star Hottie has banked $46,320. Her 15th career win boosted her earnings to $178,110.

Burke, Merschback and Murphy also clicked with Red Star Leroy (1:58.2) in Race 4 and Red Star Whippet (1:56.4) in Race 6.
