Abby Best put in a brilliant 1:55.3 performance for driver Kenny Arsenault to win the Shadow Play Invitational at the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre on Saturday afternoon.
Trained by Angus MacLean, Abby Best sat fourth in the early going before making her move at the half following the cover of Tanks A Lot. Arsenault kept her rolling by the three-quarter station to grab the lead at the top of the stretch.
The seven-year-old mare, owned by Travis MacLean of Rockwood, ON, rolled to a six length victory for her second feature win in a row. Casual Motion was second while Pans O Silver was able to shake loose late to grab third prize.
The owners of Shadow Play were trackside for the special presentation.
Fans were treated to prize draws, trophy displays and a special on-track performance by Shadow Play prior to the feature. Trainer Dr. Ian Moore paraded the Little Brown Jug winner in front of a packed house with fans and photographers capturing a piece of the special event.
It was another big day for Kenny Arsenault. The driving park’s leading driver had four winners on the card.
