Tyler Harmon, the son of Patty and Rob Harmon, has been awarded a scholarship for the 2017–18 school year from the University of Vermont, for his exemplary hockey skills.

The Harmon family features longtime horsemen that regularly race at Freehold Raceway and the Meadowlands Racetrack.

Tyler became interested in the sport of hockey after attending a Detroit Red Wings game with his family, who are longtime Wings fans.

Tyler first began skating in the barn on roller blades before he decided to hit the ice at the age of seven.

According to Patty, “Tyler works very hard, when he first started playing hockey he had a natural instinct to protect the net no matter what position he was playing.”

That instinct turned him into the award-winning goalie he is today. Tyler hopes to become the starting goalie for the Catamounts.
