Sent off as the even-money favourite, Power And Grace moved to the lead and delivered a 1:58 victory in the $13,000 Preferred Trot at Flamboro Downs on Sunday night (Dec. 4).
Power And Grace grabbed command to a :27.3 first quarter with Cool Clifford settling into the pocket. She then slowed the tempo to a :58.4 half and faced a challenge from Cool Clifford to three-quarters in 1:28.1 and all through the final turn. Though Power And Grace edged away from Cool Clifford off the turn to take a three-quarter length win with Magnificent Seven giving chase in third and Sizzlen Hot Herbie finishing fourth.
Ronald MacDonald trains Power And Grace for owners Hartel Maintenance Inc. and Lormer McClure. The seven-year-old Holiday Road mare nabbed her 44th win from 138 starts and padded her bankroll to $381,244. Brett MacDonald drove the $4.20 winner.
