Forward Closes In On Western Fair Title

Brad Forward went on Friday night winning crusade in an attempt to boost his win total and inch closer to the top spot in the driver’s standings at Western Fair Raceway

Forward, who was trailing Doug McNair by 14 wins entering Friday night’s program, scored five times on the 12-race card and now sits nine wins behind the meet leader.

The resident of Woodstock, Ont. won the second race with Chatsworth (1:58.3) for trainer Ian Hyatt and the fourth race with D M Marion (1:58.1) for Ronnie MacLean. He then went on to score a natural hat trick beginning in the seventh race. Forward won with the Stanley Malec-trained Classic Sakuri (1:57), Innisfil Cup runner-up Coup De Foudre (2:02) for Rene Allard and Buzz Of The Day (2:00.2) for Ron Henderson.

Forward, who earned the Western Fair Drivers' title in 2006 and 2008, has won 495 times so far in 2009 with over $3.6 million in earnings. Lifetime, he sports 3,618 victories on his record with over $22.3 million in winnings.
