Jack Moiseyev used Blissful Smile’s off-the-pace kick to perfection on Friday at Woodbine Racetrack en route to winning the $38,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace
Blissful Smile had plenty of pace to chase thanks to a number of lead changes throughout the mile. Run On Luck rolled the compact group of six to the quarter pole in :25.4 before giving way to Warrawee Koine in the backstretch. Warrawee Koine had them stacked up behind her at the mid-way point in :54.3, but Voelz Hanover rushed to the top going into the final turn and sprinted to the three-quarter pole in 1:22.3.
Moiseyev, who was tracking cover behind Arts Diva, started up the engine on Blissful Smile coming off the final turn and she used a :27.2 final quarter kick to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Arts Diva in a time of 1:51.1. Voelz Hanover held on to finish third.
Tony O’Sullivan trains the seven-year-old daughter of Blissfull Hall for Emerald Highlands Farm of Mount Vernon, OH. The victory improved her 2010 record to 5-10-3 in 32 starts while bumping her overall bankroll to $655,398.
