According to a report, Jim Gray, the incoming mayor of Lexington, Kentucky, has said that he will be advocating that casino gambling should be helping the state's horse racing industry from increased competition across its

borders.

An article by ABC 36 News has quoted Lexington's mayor-elect as saying, “I think we've got to do all we can today to support our horse industry.”

In regard to the support the state's casino gambling industry could give to the horse racing sector, Gray said that it is not the solution to the racing industry's problems, but it is a start.

"There are people that say this is a short fix, that it's not going to fix the industry. Understand that. Nevertheless, you can't ignore what is occurring right under your nose."
