Rallying from third over, Flying Isa N kicked off cover to collar his competition on a foggy night at Rideau Carleton Sunday, Dec. 2 when winning the $8,100 Preferred Trot in 1:57.2.

Past a :27.1 opening quarter, Lmc Mass Gem controlled the tempo to a :58 half while Neon Lights challenged first over with Upvote Hanover and Flying Isa N on cover. As the field trotted three quarters in 1:27.3, Lmc Mass Gem emerged from the mist two lengths ahead of Upvote Hanover turning into the stretch. However Flying Isa N surged past his stablemate to post a neck victory on Upvote Hanover at the wire. Pasadena Star, sitting a pocket trip, snagged third.

Trained by Yves Tessier for owner Francois Morin, Flying Isa N won his 11th race from 35 starts this season and his 37th from 134 overall, earning $540,406. Stephane Brosseau steered the 10-year-old Pegasus Spur gelding and paid $9.60 to win.

Doctor Royal sat a rail trip before overtaking pacesetter Machin A Trick and winning the $8,100 Preferred Pace in 1:57.

Owned, trained and driven by Marie Claude Auger, the six-year-old Royal Mattjesty gelding sat off a :27.3 opening quarter and paced fourth to a :58.2 half led by Machin A Trick into the turn. Following a 1:27.4 third quarter, Doctor Royal vacated the cones and ranged towards the pacesetter at the head of the stretch before surging to a length victory at the wire. Race-favourite National Debt closed to take third.

Winning his 12th race from 34 starts this season and his 16th from 49 overall, Doctor Royal has earned $86,381 and paid $6.30 to win.

Trainer Gerard Demers collected four wins on the 15-race program. He sent Windsun Hugo ($7.10), Waltzking Hanover ($11.30), Hp Patriote ($5.30) and Cams Lucky Sam ($6.70) all to winning efforts with a combined victory margin of 15 lengths.
