Kelly Hoerdt trainees Night Stick and Go Nine O won back-to-back races on Friday night (Dec. 27) at Fraser Downs to extend their respective win streaks to five.
With Fraser Downs' 2019 leading trainer and driver in the sulky, three-year-old gelding Night Stick ($2.10) overtook older rivals to win his fifth in a row by 3-1/4 lengths in a career-best time of 1:53 flat for Topnotch Stables.
Sophomore gelding Go Nine O ($6.80) then held off his older rivals including favoured stablemate Three More Smiles, owned by Topnotch Stables and driven by Hoerdt, by a neck in 1:56.3. Hoerdt owns the winner, who was driven by Scott Knight.
Hoerdt completed a training triple on the nine-race card as four-year-old gelding Peace Out Posse ($5.20) took the evening's top class dropping out of the Open. Last at the half-mile mark, he circled the field of six to prevail by a half-length in 1:53.1 with Knight working out the winning trip for Hoerdt and co-owners Blair and Erna Corbeil.
Knight ended the night with a driving hat trick while Brandon Campbell also drove three winners early on the card.
