P L Oliver, St Lads Beat It Top Flamboro Wednesday

A pair of $9,000 co-features headlined the Wednesday, Dec. 27 evening card at Flamboro Downs with victories scored by P L Oliver and St Lads Beat It.

After taking the lead from the rail, Colin Kelly and the Matthew Dupuis-conditioned P L Oliver set panels in :28.1, :57.2 and 1:26.2 before continuing home to win by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:55. Matticulous Gb (Brett MacDonald) finished second and Order One To Go (Ed Hensley) was third.

P L Oliver is a five-year-old Sportswriter gelding owned by Dupuis. He earned his seventh win of the season from 37 starts and 17th career tally while moving his career sum to $193,706. P L Oliver returned $3.90 to win.

St Lads Beat It got away fifth in the second $9,000 feature pace as the opening panel was clicked in :27.3. Travis Henry pulled his right line to send the Kyle Fellows trainee first over through the half in :57.1 and three-quarters in 1:25.3. Favoured Yourtheone (Travis Cullen) sought a challenge in the lane, but St Lads Beat It prevailed by a neck at the wire in 1:54.4. Yourtheone finished second and Uncontrollable (Austin Sorrie) rounded out the triactor.

A winner of 23 career races and $225,627 in lifetime earnings, the six-year-old gelded son of Mach Three returned $7.40 to win. He has earned eight of his wins this year from 36 starts.
