It took all of Sunday's special race card, but after winning three races on December 23 and then waiting out the Christmas holiday, 31-year-old Wyatt Irvine picked up his 1,000th career win with Chris Short's Clay Hill King Pin
.
The third generation horseman piloted the winner gate-to-wire for the easy score and was greeted by friends in the winner’s circle. He became the third member of the Irvine clan to reach 1,000 wins, following in the footsteps of his dad Bill Irvine and uncle Don Irvine, both Northfield Wall-of-Famers.
Wyatt Irvine’s horses have banked over $3.3 million since he was first licensed in 1995. He won 255 races and $768,000 in 2008, his best year to date. This year he has 177 wins. He has won 776 races since 2007.
