Putting the finishing touches on a Marc Campbell driving triple, Time To Dance led at every call in the featured Preferred 2 Pace on a special Boxing Day program on Tuesday, Dec. 26 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Driver Marc Campbell pointed the now 51-time winner to the lead in the $3,600 feature and held on for a half-length decision in 1:57.3 over a track rated two seconds off. Laughagain Hanover (Jason Hughes) was second with Fern Hill General (Brodie MacPhee) third.
Brent Campbell co-owns and trains the winning son of A Rocknroll Dance for co-owners Brady Doyle, Kent MacDonald and Ryan MacLeod. Time To Dance paid $5.70 to win.
Marc Campbell also won with Ouchie in 2:01.3 for trainer Trevor Hicken and Cabot Beach in 1:59.4 for his third straight victory from the Brent Campbell barn. The driver is on his way to his 14th straight driving title at Red Shores Charlottetown.
Blood Money captured the Darren Greig 40th Birthday Pace in race seven with a 1:58.4 score in line to Gilles Barrieau for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Dr. Mitchell Downey. Matheson tripled up from his stable as IC True Grit (David Dowling) won race five in 2:01.4 at 13-1 odds and Selkirk Echo (Barrieau) was another 13-1 winner in a 2:00.3 trip in race 10.
Elroy Shiner was the boss in the Boxing Day Pace in race six, leading all the way to a four-length win in 1:58 for driver Brady Sweet, trainer Jeff Holmes and owner Frank Sweet.
Live harness racing returns for the final program of the calendar year on Sunday evening (Dec. 31) with a New Year’s Eve card starting at 6 p.m.
