Trainer Jeff Waltenburgh scored a hat trick on the Boxing Day card at Fraser Downs Tuesday, December 26.
Waltenburgh started the day winning with Goldies Mach, a six-year-old Mach Three mare he owns with Ross Sharp, in 1:58.2 in the $6,400 opener. Driven by Paul Davies, the mare kicked off cover from second over into the stretch and sprinted to a one-and-one-quarter length victory. She paid $12.20 to win.
His second win came with odds-on favourite Single Minded in a $4,800 filly and mare claiming pace. Driven by Travis Bowman, the three-year-old Western Terror filly, owned by Ross Sharp, advanced first over from the half and edged to a half-length win over pacesetter Millbanks Dontell in 2:01.3. She paid $3.40 to win.
Davies and Waltenburgh teamed up again to best favourite Katie Snoops in a $4,200 filly and mare claiming pace, catching cover with Yanotherhos after sitting seventh at the quarter and circling around that cover to a three-and-one-quarter length score in 1:58.3. Ross Sharp owns the seven-year-old Allamerican Cobalt mare, who paid $16.50 to win.
