The lifetime win total is now 47 and counting for Lil Dude Starrbuck, who got the better of the six foes he faced in Wednesday’s $12,500 Open Pace at Fraser Downs.

Jim Burke dropped into the three-hole with the 11-year-old son of Threefold-Almahurst Irish, and he sat there while Killean Cut Kid threw down first-half splits of :27.4 and :58.1. Lil Dude Starrbuck was up and driving in the backstretch, however, and he was second on the outside of Killean Cut Kid at the three-quarter pole in 1:26.2. Lil Dude Starrbuck summoned up a :28.4 closing panel en route to prevailing by three-quarters of a length over stablemate Killean Cut Kid in a final time of 1:55.2. Lizard King, who enjoyed a ground saving trip throughout the mile, was third.

David McKellar trains the classy campaigner who is owned by the Lil Dude Ranch of Surrey, BC. The victory improved this year’s record to 6-2-0 from 23 assignments and the lion’s share of the purse helped his lifetime earnings snowball to $685,985.
