Driver Pascal Berube sent Sam Sergi trainee Revenue Agent to the lead and maintained control through the mile to win the $8,600 Preferred Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday, Dec. 22.
The 11-year-old Revenue S gelding faced little pressure through the mile, trotting fractions of :27.4, :58.1 and 1:27. He endured a short-lived first-over challenge from Lmc Mass Gem heading to the final turn but strolled into the stretch and widened to a three-length victory in 1:56.2 over pocket-sitter Ghirardelli Lindy. Even-money favourite Undercover Strike finished third.
Co-owned by Sam Sergi by Michael Sergi, Revenue Agent won his 10th race from 35 starts this season and his 39th from 162 overall, earning $435,329. He paid $15.30 to win.
