Returning to the top trotting ranks at Charlottetown Driving Park after winning the Open Handicap in his last start on Dec. 1, Caliban Hanover reeled off another victory on Saturday for trainer-driver Ronnie Gass.

Caliban Hanover advanced first over from fourth in the $1,500 purse event after the opening panel and reeled in the pacesetting Napanee Seelster (Dan MacDonald) before the third quarter mark. The 3-2 favourite quickly took over command then held off the second over Juliare (Marc Campbell) to win by half a length in 2:05.2 over the 'good' surface, which was rated two seconds slow. Pocket-sitter Ginternal Revenue (Mike Stevenson) finished third.

The 32-time career winner returned $5 to his backers.

Cornwall's Wendell Macdonald owns the seven-year-old Andover Hall gelding, who boasts a 9-9-1 record in 35 seasonal starts.
