Simon Allard mapped out a pretty trip for Shoeless White Sox in Tuesday’s Preferred Trot at Georgian Downs, and the Murray Brethour trainee didn’t let it go to waste
. The four-year-old son of Mr Lavec turned on the jets over the final frame of the $15,000 contest en route to posting a one-length tally in 1:56.3 for owner/breeder Chris Alexander of Aurora, ON.
Shoeless White Sox broke the teletimer’s beam at the quarter pole after trotting the first two furlongs in :28.4, but he released Foto the lead when that one came calling shortly on the way to the mid-way point.
Foto, who erupted for a 67-1 upset in last week’s edition of the Preferred Trot, cleared easily before being prompted by Kan Wire through middle splits of :58 and 1:27. The trip took its toll on Kan Wire by the top of the stretch, and it softened up Foto to the point where he couldn’t fend off the late-driving Shoeless White Sox. Foto held on for the runner-up award and third prize was earned by Adam T.
Sent off at odds of 4-1, Shoeless White Sox won for the ninth time this season in just 29 trips behind the starting gate. He went 2-for-6 in last season and banked close to $48,000, but he has stashed away close to $89,000 this year for a career total of $186,868.
