The Standardbreds showcased their holiday spirit during a festive finale at Truro Raceway on Sunday, Dec. 20.
Ten-year-old pacing gelding Fluid Motion and seven-year-old mare M M Lass were dressed up as Mr. and Mrs. Claus to bring some holiday cheer to harness racing fans at Truro during their warm up after the third race.
The costumes were created by Heather Gatti, one of harness racing's most creative caretakers from the David Carey stable. Gatti has been known to dress up the horses for special holidays. Last Christmas, Fluid Motion was dressed up as elf.
Driver Paul Langille secured the 2015 driving title at Truro with a four-win performance on the final program of the year. Among his wins, Langille won Sunday afternoon's featured $1,350 Winners Over Pace with Sf Razamatazz, who defeated front-stepper Gerries Beach and favourite Barona Lilac in 1:58.3. Langille picked up the catch-drive behind the Mark Whidden trainee, now a winner of 11 races in his nine-year-old campaign.
Langille's Sunday scores put his final Truro win count at 54, seven more than runner-up Darren Crowe, who had a driving double on the day.
Langille was also victorious with his own trainees LongN Winding Road and Maiden Heaven in addition to Our Star for George Rennison, who topped the training charts with 43 wins on the year. Crowe also finished second in the trainer standings with 31 winners from his stable.
