The New Brunswick Equine Rescue Fund, administered by the New Brunswick SPCA, received a special donation from the province's standardbred racing community on Saturday.
Brent Briggs presented a cheque for $1,000 this morning to Steve Turner, President of NB SPCA, and Hilary Howes, Executive Director of NB SPCA. The funds will be used as needed for any horses that may find themselves in distress in the province.
The cheque was donated in memory of legendary New Brunswick horseman Earl Avery and was the combined effort of the standardbred community, including Horse Racing New Brunswick and the Horsemen's Associations in Fredericton, Woodstock, Saint John and Moncton.
