It has been reported that the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. is sponsoring Hamilton Mayor Bob Bratina's New Year State of the City address. It has been reported that it will be the first time that the OLG has sponsored a mayoral speech in Hamilton.
The news comes courtesy of a report by The Hamilton Spectator. The article states that the event will take place at the Stelco Tower on Tuesday, January 8 and that the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is organizing and hosting the event.
According to the article, OLG spokesman Tony Bitonti has said that it is routine for the OLG to sponsor mayoral state of the city addresses in host communities where the corporation has gambling facilities.
Bitonti told The Hamilton Spectator that the OLG has 20 similar events lined up across the province for 2014.
