World Champion Chocolatier, whose first crop raced as two year olds this year, will be moving to Pennsylvania beginning with the 2011 breeding season
. He will stand at Marion Farms, which is located just across the New Jersey border in New Hope, Pa. The World Champion son of Credit Winner had stood in New Jersey since he first went to stud in 2007.
Chocolatier's syndicate manager Geoffrey Stein made the announcement today, adding that the stallion's new eligibility to the lucrative Pennsylvania Sire Stakes program played a large role in the decision.
"It's clearly what's best for the horse's future," Stein said. "With the harness racing situation in New Jersey still not settled, we think Pennsylvania offers a terrific option, and the greatest long-term potential for him to succeed in the marketplace."
Chocolatier's first crop ranked him among the sport's leading sires in yearling average and median at the 2009 sales and went on to include such stakes winners as Creme De Cocoa 2,1:56.3, Pilgrims Truffles 2,2:00.2h, Sweet Love 2,1:56.2f and Seducedbychocolate 2,1:56.4, all four of whom made their way to the 2010 Breeders Crown.
