Classy Character was the easy winner in Fraser Downs’ Saturday afternoon feature, the $17,000 Open Pace, for trainer Amber Lancaster.

The six-year-old gelded son of Shady Character and regular pilot Tim Brown set out for the front right from the start and circled the 5/8 mile oval effortlessly to take his 16th win in 23 outings this year.

Classy Character carved out fractions of :27.3, :58 and 1:25.4 without facing any serious challengers before crossing the wire in 1:53.4.

Round Table Review (Scott Knight) was the runner-up and Classy Character’s stablemate, Born Again Dragon (Gord Abbott), rounded out the top three.

The bay, who is owned by Sandra Brown of Langley and Jack Thompson of Burnaby, B.C., picked up his 25th career win and bumped his bankroll to $257,943.
