After spending the last six years standing in Pennsylvania and Kentucky, Southwind Frank will have a new home for the 2023 breeding season.

Winbak Farm of Delaware is proud to announce that Southwind Frank, (2,1:52.2; 3,1:52.1 - $2,115,999), will be joining the 2023 stallion lineup.

“Southwind Frank is an accomplished son of Muscle Hill who is already a proven sire of stakes-winners,” said Jack Burke, Winbak Farm General Manager. “We are thrilled to stand this world champion at our farm in the great state of Delaware.”

Southwind Frank was the 2015 O’Brien Two-Year-Old Colt Trotter of the Year Award winner and 2015 USHWA Two-Year-Old Colt Trotter of the Year Award winner.

“We are very excited about Southwind Frank and his move to Delaware,” said Mark Weaver, owner of Southwind Frank. “As a superstar on the track and a proven stallion that has already had offspring compete in The Hambletonian and Breeders Crown, we're thrilled to team up with Winbak Farm and give breeders this unique opportunity in a great but underrated sire stakes program.”

At two, Southwind Frank won 11 of 12 starts. He won the Breeders Crown elimination and final, Champlain Stakes division, International Stallion Stakes division, New Jersey Sire Stakes division and final, Peter Haughton elimination and final, Reynolds Memorial division, and William Wellwood Memorial elimination and final.

“Southwind Frank set the world record of 1:52.2 at The Red Mile winning the International Stallion Stakes,” said Joe Thomson, Winbak Farm Owner. “He was a very impressive two-year-old who had 10 consecutive wins.”

At three, he won the Earl Beal Jr. Memorial final, New Jersey Sire Stakes division and final, Reynolds Memorial, Stanley Dancer Memorial and The Colonial final at Pocono Downs. He was second in the Breeders Crown final, Canadian Trotting Classic elimination, Earl Beal Jr. Memorial elimination, Kentucky Futurity final, and Hambletonian Stakes elimination and final. He was in the top three for 24 of his 26 lifetime starts.

“Southwind Frank is the perfect trotter for Delaware,” said Thomson. “He is a royally-bred champion who already has proven success as a sire of top performers.”

Southwind Frank is the sire of 2022 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes final winner Bond (2,1:52.3 - $587,264) and 2022 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes leg winner Eternal Lee (3,1:51 - $352,638). He has sired 13 winners of more than $100,000.

“Suggested crosses for Southwind Frank include mares sired by Andover Hall, Angus Hall, Chapter Seven, Conway Hall, Credit Winner, Donato Hanover and Kadabra,” said Burke. “If breeders have questions, they should contact either myself or one of our experienced team members at Winbak Farm of Maryland.”
