Bettors Heart N closed ferociously with a :53.4 back half to prevail as the 4-5 favourite in Wednesday's (Dec. 2) $20,000 Fillies and Mares Open at Dover Downs.
Soho Burning Love A was sent to the front by Tim Tetrick before yielding to Machnhope and Andy McCarthy, who took the lead through a :26.4 quarter and controlled a :55.2 half. At the five-eighths mark, Dexter Dunn manoeuvred Bettors Heart N first-over, and they advanced to challenge Machnhope to three-quarters in 1:23. Bettors Heart motored past Machnhope at the top of the stretch and edged away to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:50.3. Soho Burning Love A finished third.
Trainer Richard "Nifty" Norman's Enzed Racing Stable owns Bettors Heart N, a seven-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight who has now won two of her three starts since arriving in the United States.
Montrell Teague led all drivers with four wins on the card.
