Sophomore pacing filly Mischieviousgirls was victorious in her return to the races after a two-month layoff, taking Wednesday night's featured $10,000 Preferred 2 Handicap Pace for fillies and mares at Flamboro Downs.
Insider Jabas Luck took control of the nine-horse field and carved out fractions of :27.2, :57.3 and 1:26.3 before Mischieviousgirls went by. Even-money favourite Liculia A advanced first over from fourth with Tigra Seelster following her cover and Mischieviousgirls third over. As Liculia A threw in the towel heading down the backstretch for the final time, driver Travis Henry sent Mischieviousgirls three-wide. The filly quickly caught the leading Jabas Luck into the final turn and drew away down the stretch for the two-length triumph in a career-best clocking of 1:56.1. Katherine B finished second off a pocket trip while Badlyinclined followed in third.
Mischieviousgirls paid $13.70 to win as the 5-1 fourth choice on the toteboard.
Waterdown horseman Gaetan Hebert bred, trains and co-owns the daughter of Santanna Blue Chip with Carl Clift.
After going winless in eight starts as a two-year-old, Mischieviousgirls has earned six victories and seven runner-up efforts from 33 races this year to earn the bulk of her $70,789 bankroll. She has recorded all of her wins over Flamboro Downs.
