A change of scenery played a big role in Thatll Be Franny regaining her winning touch in Tuesday’s $7,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

After struggling in a number of recent performances at Woodbine Racetrack and Flamboro Downs, Thatll Be Franny made her way to the London, Ontario half-miler and easily disposed of the seven foes she sparred with.

Nick Steward got away third from Post 4 with the Ken Gowan trainee, and she remained in that position until shortly past the mid-way point of the mile. First-half fractions of :28.3 and :58.2 were set by Insincerity, who came under heavy pressure in the third quarter when Thatll Be Franny went into attack mode.

Thatll Be Franny rushed up on the outside and gained the lead at the three-quarter pole in 1:27 before using a :29-second closing quarter to seal the deal by a length over race favourite Somethinincredible in 1:56. Rain Cloud Hanover tagged along all the way and finished third.

Audrey Crawford of Wallacetown, Ontario bred and owns the 10-year-old daughter of Thatll Be Me-Little Franny. The charismatic campaigner won for the sixth time this season and for the 24th time in her career. The lion’s share of Tuesday’s loot lifted her lifetime cash stash to $236,532.
