Jeff and Debbie Elchuk of Surrey, BC shelled out $31,000 to purchase a three-year-old filly named Mach Lady from this year’s Fall Extravaganza Mixed Sale

back in October, and the investment has certainly proved to be a wise one.

The daughter of Mach Three-Tampa Town, who now resides in the barn of O’Brien Award winner Bill Davis, easily dismissed conditioned foes in her first start for the new connections on November 25 at Woodbine and she was just as impressive on Thursday evening in the Autumn Stakes elimination

Mach Lady settled into an early three hole for driver Jody Jamieson, who watched Giddy Up Bella (Paul MacDonell) front the field through fractions of :28.2 and :57.2 before going on the attack. Jamieson launched his charge to the outside before going into the final turn, and she gradually chipped away at Giddy Up Bella’s lead as she zipped past the three-quarter pole in 1:26.

Mach Lady dug in when called on for more speed in deep stretch, and her :29.3 final frame was more than enough to earn her the win by three-quarters of a length over Wiskywisky Nancy O (Mike Saftic) in a time of 1:56. Giddy Up Bella faded to finish third in the $20,000 tilt.

The victory improved the rookie’s record to 3-3-1 from 13 starts, and the lion’s share of the purse lifted her earnings to $46,230.

All six of the fillies in Thursday’s elimination (which saw four fillies scratched from the original group of ten starters) will join Iemma Machine Baby and Blue Monster, who received byes, in next Thursday’s final. Here’s how they’ll line up on the starting gate:
