Seven Straight For Corkemup

The hottest horse at Western Fair Raceway is undoubtedly three-year-old trotter Corkemup, who front-stepped his way to his seventh straight win tonight.

With trainer Randy Fritz in tow, the son of Wesgate Crown was able to use rail position to make the early lead and did not give it up en route to a wire-to-wire 2:04.1 decision over a game first-over challenger Fa Mulan (Alex Lilley) and a hard-closing Classic Ballad (Stuart Sowerby).

The homebred owned by Joey and James Ayotte of Grimsby, Ont., Corkemup is now 8-for-12 on the season with over $61,000 in the bank. The win streak for Corkemup started at Flamboro Downs two months ago today, continued over Kawartha Downs before making the trek to London and sweeping the Middlesex Trotting Series for colts & geldings.
