For the second consecutive night, trainer Jodie Cullen conditioned three winners at Flamboro Downs on Thursday, Dec. 19 while failing to miss the board with her five starters on the nine-race card.
After finishing second and third in the opener on the evening, Cullen pitched a shut out for the remainder of the card, scoring with a trio of Indiana import pacing mares.
Travis Cullen was in the bike of 4-5 favourite Val Victorian ($3.80), who went gate-to-wire en route to a 1:54.4 victory by 2-1/2 lengths in a $7,800 conditioned pace for pacing mares over Redlandbethanyjean (Tyler Moore). The four-year-old daughter of Real Desire-Town Feather has won half of her 16 starts in 2024 for owner A1stable.
The same connections saw deja vu later in the card as Travis Cullen utilized similar tactics aboard Tells Bells ($3.20) to score her third consecutive victory on the season. Grabbing command from post seven, the three-year-old daughter of Tellitlikeitis-Endora Hanover paced away by two lengths on the wire over Beth (Samuel Fillion) in 1:58.4. The victory was the fifth in 31 seasonal outings for Tells Bells.
It was another daughter of Tellitlikeitis who completed the training triple for Jodie Cullen, this time with Ed Hensley handling the reins of Royal Tell ($5.80). Securing a second-over trip from post three, Royal Tell launched a three-wide bid turning for home before coasting home a 2-1/4-length winner over Clodam Bayama (Austin Sorrie) in 1:56. The three-quarter sister to millionaire Little Rocket Man has won three of her last four, and six times on the year for owner A1stable.
The victory was the 100th of the year at Flamboro for Cullen, who has a commanding lead in the trainer standings while also being the winningest trainer in Canada for 2024.
