On Tuesday night, driver Gord Brown matched his own track record set in 2008 for the most number of wins at Kawartha Downs and with three more victories this evening – the final night of racing for the 2009 season
– Brown set a new record.
Gord Brown guided Robert Brown’s three-year-old pacing filly Capital Deal to her first lifetime win in 2:01.4 in the second race. He also scored with four-year-old gelding Go Native in 1:59.1 for trainer Mark Winacott and owner Renato Poloni in the sixth race before capping off the card with a 2:00.3 score aboard Sure Jate, a six-year-old gelding trained by Randy Scott and owned by Kelly Scott.
The perennial driving champion at Kawartha for the last six years now boasts a record 218 wins on the year.
Brown ends the 2009 season sitting atop the driver’s standings with a 121-win lead and over $1 million in purse earnings. Brad Rae sits second in the standings with 97 wins and over $557,000 in earnings.
