Reports indicate that the cause of the January 2016 fire at Classy Lane Training Centre has been determined by the Office of the Fire Marshal.
Investigators have concluded that the cause of the fire that claimed the lives of 43 horses and sent shockwaves throughout the harness racing world was electrical. However, according to a report by CTV News, what exactly started the fire at the northeast corner of Barn 1 at Classy Lane cannot be determined.
“The OFM (Office of the Fire Marshal) was unable to say exactly what the electrical item was, due to extent of the damage,” Jason Benn, who was Puslinch’s chief fire prevention officer at the time of the fire, said in an email to CTV.
