Dreamfair Eternal Does It Again

Keeping with consistency, Dreamfair Eternal out-classed her Open rivals for the third consecutive time in the $44,000 feature pace for fillies and mares on Friday night at Woodbine Racetrack

Marietta Hall (Mark MacDonald) was quickest off the gate but a determined To Helen Back (Mike Saftic) drove on from the 10-hole to secure the lead in a :25.4 scorcher.

In the backstretch, Southwind Madonna (Lyle MacArthur) brushed up from fifth and struck the front at the :55.1 half-mile mark with Dreamfair Eternal, who was positioned seventh in the early going, following. With Randy Waples in the bike, the 1-5 favourite glided into the top spot with ease.

After passing three-quarters in 1:23.1 and rounding the final turn, Dreamfair Eternal kicked away by three lengths and coasted under the wire in 1:51 flat.

Miss Scarlett (Rick Zeron) and Marietta Hall (Mark MacDonald) finished second and third.

John and Mary Lamers’ homebred daughter of Camluck-J Cs Nathalie, who is trained by Patrick Fletcher, sits pretty with 17 wins on the year in 31 starts and $622,420 banked in earnings. Dreamfair Eternal’s 29th lifetime victory bumped her earnings to $766,415.

The victory was one of three on the 12-race card for Waples, leaving him in need of only one more to reach the 5,000-win milestone.
