An outbreak of contagious equine metritis (CEM) in the United States in 2008 sent Canadian breeders scrambling to find answers and solutions to red-tape border issues earlier this year.

Dr. Mike Wheeler of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency gives Trot Radio's Norm Borg an update on the status of CEM in North America, the number of quarantined horses currently in the U.S. and discusses precautionary measures to prevent CEM in stallions and broodmares.
