Pop Up Mania At Mohawk Park

The opening leg of the Pop Up Series for female pacers went postward in the form of three divisions Thursday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Marvelous Kiss quarter pole-moved to the lead in her $14,000 divisions and simply cruised to a handy win in 1:57.2 for the tandem of driver James MacDonald and trainer Rob Fellows.

The three-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight-Kisskissbangbang watched Twin B Beachdreams hammer out an opening quarter of :29 before looping that foe and then carving out middle splits of :57.4 and 1:26.4. She used a :30.3 closing quarter to seal the deal by a length over Twin B Beachdreams. Im Chiara closed from far back to be third.

Sent off at even-money, Marvelous Kiss improved her 2021 record to 4-3-3 from 21 starts with the win. The homebred has banked $35,842 for partners Yolanda Fellows and Erna Corbeil.

Emmy Lou Hayes earned a new lifetime mark of 1:57.1 thanks to her triumph in the second division for driver Trevor Henry and trainer Shayne Barrington.

The three-year-old daughter of Ameripan Gigolo-Mcdaisy Cutter fired to the front from Post 10 and had the field chasing her to the quarter in :28.2. She then released the parked out C U Princess to the top, and she proceeded to chop out middle splits of :57.1 and 1:26.3. Emmy Lou Hayes dropped down to the rail late and came through to post the victory of P L Orchid and Delimas.

Rick Rier and Paul Berberich recently purchased the filly who now owns a 4-6-4 record from 22 trips to the track this season. The lion’s share of the purse bumped her overall bankroll to $35,492.

The four-year-old daughter of Betterthancheddar-Windsun Rain landed seventh in the early going while Wine Tyme pressed to the lead and led the field through fractions of :29.4, :59.3 and 1:29. Black Betty swung out to catch cover going to the half, and she advanced to be fifth on the outside heading into the final quarter of the contest. Her :29.1 closing quarter propelled her to the win by 4-3/4 lengths over race favourite Katys Delight in 1:59. Wine Tyme stuck around to nab third prize.

Daniel Mead of Rockwood, ON owns the distaffer who bumped her lifetime earnings to $36,364 with the win. After going 0-for-8 last season she’s followed up with a 5-2-3 record from 24 starts in 2021.
